Farewell to the FL9
For about 50 years, the New Haven Railroad, and then Metro-North, have run these EMD Art Deco-insipired locomotives. Metro North FL9 #2027, West Redding, CT 10/23/2005 Unique in their ability to run on diesel power or 3rd rail electric, they are handsome and utilitarian.
On October 23, Metro-North officially retired the FL9 from passenger service with a special excursion from Stamford to Canaan, CT. My Farewell to the FL9 page has photos that I took that day, as well as links to other FL9 postings.
